Students of class 4C (Julius-Kugy Class) / BG und BRG für Slowenen (with Aloisia Gomez)
In cooperation with Johannes Puch (workshop leader) and the Educational Lab.
Within the project The Visible World, Kunstraum Lakeside and the Slovenian Grammar School, in collaboration with Johannes Puch and the Educational Lab, created a framework that connects art and physics, opening up new forms of learning beyond the traditional classroom. The multilingual students of class 4C (Julius-Kugy Class) were encouraged to engage with scientific phenomena in an experimental and creative way, gaining new perspectives on school subjects.
During a photography workshop along the Lendkanal, the students explored physical phenomena such as light refraction, reflection, and mirroring using both analog and digital tools. Working with homemade pinhole cameras or smartphones, they approached the topics through hands-on experimentation, combining scientific observation with creative expression in their photographic works. A visit to Kunstraum Lakeside offered insights into contemporary artistic practices and served as inspiration for their own exploration. In a follow-up workshop, the resulting works were digitally edited and prepared for print.
The project concluded with a public exhibition at Lendhafen, where the students’ works were presented as a series—complemented by digital content accessible via QR codes. The project demonstrated how artistic methods can facilitate access to scientific topics and expand the scope of learning in schools.
Funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research within the OeAD program culture connected ‒ cooperations between schools and cultural institutions.
