℅ Infotour — pay the artist now!

November saw the start of a nationwide information tour by the pay the artist now! initiative. The aim is to provide information on the current status of the fair pay process and, conversely, to gather experiences and voices from the scene on the subject of fair pay in the visual arts. In this way, the interest groups contribute to evaluating and further developing the ongoing process. In cooperation with IG KiKK, the info tour will make a stop at Kunstraum Lakeside in Klagenfurt/Celovec on January 23 and 24, 2024.

Workshop with invited participants
Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 10 am – 2 pm

On the following day, a workshop with invited participants from the independent scene, colleagues from local institutions and representatives of local funding bodies, will be dedicated to practical experience with the IG Bildenden Kunst’s fee guidelines and collect suggestions for improvement to anchor fair payment in the visual arts sector.

The pay the artist now! working group consists of representatives of the IG Bildende Kunst and Tiroler Künstler:innenschaft, which has been working since 2016 to anchor the issues of fair pay and fair working conditions as fundamental to the visual arts. The 2023/24 info tour is being developed by Vasilena Gankovska, Sheri Avraham and Michael Strasser from pay the artist now! After evaluating the data collected and the content developed during the workshops, a larger information event / symposium is planned for fall 2024 in Vienna. The evaluated results of the tour and an outlook for the future will be presented.
